I have a plan!

There are 46 days until the marathon. The next six Saturdays are going to consist of 10, 18, 10, 20, 12, and 7 mile runs. If you notice, that is only two more BIG runs. I don’t want to put the cart before the horse here... but I might just make it to the big day! I have learned to be cautiously optimistic. Every day that goes by is one more closer to my end goal. I bought my shirt... Bright big bird yellow for everyone who will be out there on race day. I have almost committed the course to memory. If I can think straight at mile 19, it will be easier for me to know the route like the back of my hand.

There are many days where I have minor panic attacks when I think about the whole 26 miles, 385 yards. What kind of crazy person signs up for this willingly? It is so far!!! As John Bingham says... 'Think about finishing a half marathon, then turning around and doing it again!'

I think I will have to play tricks on myself during the race. I can’t think of the whole thing in one lump sum. I have to take it one bite at a time. I’ve split the race up into the downtown section, the north side, the west side, the south side and the finish line. Individually, I can run each of them without any problems. I might even be able to put two of them together, but that may be pushing it. So I guess I have a plan! A set plan. One step at a time. Each step will carry me through all those water stops and neighborhoods and God willing the finish line. Watch out Chicago.
